Oh, hey, look at that... Howell's loaded again? Well, I'll be. Six District medal winners, including four State qualifiers, return, and a slew of talented newcomers are ready to step in and make an immediate impact, as the Rebels appear to once again be reloading for a shot at the top spot in the Shore Conference.
The teeth of the lineup is the stretch from 120-145 with five District medals lurking, led by a trio that made it down to Atlantic City in 2015: sophomore Kyle Slendorn and seniors Anthony Gagliano and Kris Lindemann. Region qualifiers Peter Dee and Nick Ciaccia also return, and there's strong depth behind them that includes Dan Esposito, a 14-bout winner as a frosh. There will be new starters at 106 & 113, but coach Gagliano has a pretty deep pool of young talent that he'll be able to pull from to plug right in.
Gone to graduation is 118 wins from last year's upper half, but as Howell has proven in the past, they have a very successful "next man up" philosophy. Junior Eric Keosseian had a great sophomore season, racking up 29 wins and punching a ticket to AC. He'll be one of the top big men in the Shore this season and the anchor up top. Senior Frank Leonardis had some quality wins in 2015 and could be primed for a breakout year, while the rest of the newcomers are a strong group of upperclassmen that could have started at most schools last year, but were victims of the Rebels' loaded depth chart.
Howell has won the last 10 A-North titles and it would appear that there showdown on January 7th at home vs. CBA will determine if they can make it 11 in a row. Last season, they were a part of the ridiculously loaded SJG5 Sectional with Brick Memorial and Southern that provided two of the most entertaining duals of the season, with the Rebels winning a thriller in the semis against Southern, before falling to Brick Memorial by 3 in the finals. This year, all three have been separated, with the Rebels moving into CJG5 where they will look to win the program's 2nd Sectional title. Among the teams standing in their way are Hunterdon Central and Old Bridge. With the talent listed here, and more than likely contributions from some not listed, expect another big season for Howell as they will be in the hunt for the top spot in the Shore, and among the favorites in all of the team championship battles.

Oh, hey, look at that... Howell's loaded again? Well, I'll be. Six District medal winners, including four State qualifiers, return, and a slew of talented newcomers are ready to step in and make an immediate impact, as the Rebels appear to once again be reloading for a shot at the top spot in the Shore Conference.
The teeth of the lineup is the stretch from 120-145 with five District medals lurking, led by a trio that made it down to Atlantic City in 2015: sophomore Kyle Slendorn and seniors Anthony Gagliano and Kris Lindemann. Region qualifiers Peter Dee and Nick Ciaccia also return, and there's strong depth behind them that includes Dan Esposito, a 14-bout winner as a frosh. There will be new starters at 106 & 113, but coach Gagliano has a pretty deep pool of young talent that he'll be able to pull from to plug right in.
Gone to graduation is 118 wins from last year's upper half, but as Howell has proven in the past, they have a very successful "next man up" philosophy. Junior Eric Keosseian had a great sophomore season, racking up 29 wins and punching a ticket to AC. He'll be one of the top big men in the Shore this season and the anchor up top. Senior Frank Leonardis had some quality wins in 2015 and could be primed for a breakout year, while the rest of the newcomers are a strong group of upperclassmen that could have started at most schools last year, but were victims of the Rebels' loaded depth chart.
Howell has won the last 10 A-North titles and it would appear that there showdown on January 7th at home vs. CBA will determine if they can make it 11 in a row. Last season, they were a part of the ridiculously loaded SJG5 Sectional with Brick Memorial and Southern that provided two of the most entertaining duals of the season, with the Rebels winning a thriller in the semis against Southern, before falling to Brick Memorial by 3 in the finals. This year, all three have been separated, with the Rebels moving into CJG5 where they will look to win the program's 2nd Sectional title. Among the teams standing in their way are Hunterdon Central and Old Bridge. With the talent listed here, and more than likely contributions from some not listed, expect another big season for Howell as they will be in the hunt for the top spot in the Shore, and among the favorites in all of the team championship battles.
